Figma Motion Timeline Snapping

I really love the new Figma Motion workflow! It is great not having to go somewhere else to create animations and export them back into Figma.

Though a feature that most other animation programs/online services have that Motion does not is timeline snapping. Being able to snap the cursor (and keyframes) to certain time intervals is an easier way to synchronize animations than simply snapping independent keyframes to one another, in my opinion. It is annoying how imprecise setting new keyframes in relation to others is currently.

So it would be great if this could be implemented. Maybe even an input field specifying the snapping resolution in preferences or something? (like every 50ms, 100ms, etc)

Hey, @Nathan Langdon 👋 Great suggestion. Thanks for taking the time to share. I moved this to the Suggest a feature section to get it more visibility 🤩 I also shared it with the team. Have a great rest of your week! — Jaycee

Hey @Nathan Langdon

Thanks so much for this feedback! We're gradually rolling out more snapping options on the timeline. Right now, we support snapping keyframes to the playhead, to the timing position of other keyframes, and to the start/end of any summary bars. You can also snap the playhead to any keyframe position while dragging, just hold Shift.

One thing I'd want to be thoughtful about is snapping the playhead to major/minor timing points on every drag, since that could get annoying while previewing timelines. That said, I really like the idea of snapping to major/minor timing points when dragging a keyframe, style or summary bar specifically, that feels like a great addition.

I'll file a task for this and get the team to take a look. Thanks again for flagging it!
