I really like Figma’s effort to build a mass-production system with Buzz, but I still prefer the Table to Figma plugin for five main reasons:
-
Direct connection to Google Sheets
Build your spreadsheet in Google Sheets and link it straight to Table to Figma—no manual export/import required. -
Layer visibility toggles
A Boolean column (TRUE / FALSE) lets you show or hide layers. One simple exemple : This is essential when you need to display a dollar sign before prices for the English market but hide it for the French market. -
Bulk updates through components
Turn elements into components and push global changes without re-importing the spreadsheet every time. -
Images handled via URLs instead of in-cell uploads
Embedding images directly makes the sheet heavy and unwieldy—especially when I have to deliver 200-plus variants. Table to Figma lets me reference images with URLs, keeping the file light and the workflow fast. -
Variants and layouts driven from the sheet
With “Variant” or “Layout” columns, each row can automatically pick the right component variant (e.g., “CTA right”, “Two-line headline”, “Promo version”) and instantly apply the correct text or element arrangement. Change a value in the sheet, and every asset updates—no manual tweaks needed.
If Figma adds these capabilities (layer visibility, component-based updates, URL image import, and variant selection from the sheet), Buzz will become a truly powerful—and maybe indispensable—tool for anyone producing assets at scale.
