First off—thank you for continuing to push Figma forward. It’s an incredible tool, but there are a couple of areas that feel unnecessarily clunky in day-to-day work.
1. Variables workflow
-
The current variable tables look and feel like a spreadsheet, but don’t work like one.
-
Copying and pasting CSV-formatted text into variable tables would be a huge efficiency boost.
-
Editing values one at a time is frustrating when you need to create or adjust many variables.
-
Plugins exist for bulk import, but they feel like hacks—this should really be a native capability in the UI.
2. Content import + duplication
-
It would be amazing if we could paste CSV or text data into a selected component (like a text input) and have Figma duplicate and fill instances automatically.
-
This is common in coding workflows, yet in Figma it remains slow and manual.
-
Right now, the “First Draft” AI feature scratches the surface, but it feels limited. A more general-purpose AI chat for duplicating components and filling them with structured content would unlock much more value.
Overall
These features would reduce friction, eliminate repetitive tasks, and align Figma more closely with how designers and developers already work with data. The goal: make scaling mockups and design systems as fluid as coding them.
