Hi Figma team, I’m a Graphic Designer excited to use Figma Buzz as a potential replacement for tools like Adobe Express and Canva. However, I've run into a couple of limitations that would be great to see addressed:
1. Layers Visibility & Basic Manipulation in Buzz: As a designer, I can switch to "Design mode" to see and organize layers, which is great. However, for non-designers using Buzz templates, the concept of "layers" doesn’t exist. This means they can't easily do things like bring an image forward, send text backward, or directly select an element to change its color or replace an image. It would be great if there was a way for all users to interact with the visual stacking order and select individual elements within a layers panel in Buzz.
2. More Flexible Locking in Templates: Currently, when elements in a template are locked, users can typically only swap components. I'd love to see more granular control over locking. For example, I'd like to lock the position of elements (like a logo) in my templates so non-designers can't accidentally move them. At the same time, I'd want those users to still be able to easily change the colors of shapes within the template. Right now, if I unlock a template to allow color changes, it also allows movement, which isn't ideal when the goal is for non-designers to quickly customize visuals without altering the layout.
These improvements would make Figma Buzz even more powerful and user-friendly for teams with varying design skills.
