Hi Figma Team đź‘‹

You guys are wonderful. This is my first time here writing something for Figma and our community. While working on a semi-complex Figma file with many components and design systems, I noticed something that could really speed up my workflow.

Whenever I need a particular component, I usually access it by copying from nearby pages, searching within the Assets panel, or opening the component library page. While these methods work, I often wish I could assign custom shortcut keys to my frequently used components — so I could drop them in instantly without breaking flow.

Here’s the idea:

  • Allow designers to map their most-used components to personalized shortcut keys (e.g., Ctrl + Alt + 1 → Primary Button).

  • The mapping could be managed within the component’s settings (Shortcut pattern + Name).

  • If any conflicts occur with Figma’s existing shortcuts, a dedicated trigger (like a “Component Shortcut Mode” key) could activate this feature to avoid overlap.

This could be a big productivity boost, especially for designers working with large design systems. It’s similar in spirit to how we use quick shortcuts or snippets in other creative tools.

Would love to hear what others think — could this be a useful addition to Figma?

Warm regards,
