Export to CMYK

I think they need to advance the export system a little more than just that.
Not just CMYK, but changing DPI for quality is also crucial. 

They already attacked Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop (adding brush, Generative Image, etc...). This is the last step to make me uninstall those permanently.

As someone who has been using Figma since its first beta version, I am still eagerly awaiting the addition of a CMYK color option for design and export.

Today, Figma is not just a UI design tool for me; it's becoming an alternative to Adobe Illustrator in many ways. Even people in the Figma Community have started sharing their mockups within the Community.

When I check, I see that there is a significant user base that has been waiting for CMYK support for 5-6 years. I eagerly await this innovation in the upcoming updates from Figma, which has always shown that it values user feedback.

I use Figma for most of my design work and honestly would love to use it for print as well. At the moment, print work is one of the main reasons I still keep my Adobe subscription.

It would be great if Figma had a proper print mode or at least more tools specifically for print production.

The biggest thing for me is physical units. I’d love to be able to work in mm, cm or inches instead of converting everything to pixels. This would also be useful for existing rulers, guides, object sizes, spacing and positioning.

CMYK support is probably the other major missing piece. Being able to work directly with CMYK values, use ICC print profiles, preview RGB to CMYK conversion and soft proof colors would make a huge difference. Things like rich black, ink coverage warnings, separations and overprint preview would also be really useful when preparing actual production files.

Bleed could also be much easier. I’d love to set bleed directly on a frame or document, including different values for each side, and then have Figma include it automatically when exporting. Crop marks, safe areas and fold guides would be useful here too.

Another thing I constantly need for print is image resolution. It would be amazing if Figma could show the effective PPI of an image based on its actual print size and warn me when an image is too low resolution.

And probably my favorite idea would be some kind of Print Ready Check before export. Something simple that tells me if there are RGB colors left in the file, low-resolution images, missing bleed, color profile problems, ink coverage or overprint issues.

For export, proper CMYK PDF output and support for standards like PDF/X-1a and PDF/X-4 would make Figma much more practical for sending finished artwork directly to a printer.

I don’t think all of this needs to complicate the normal Figma interface either. It could simply be an optional Print mode for people who need it.

I already prefer working in Figma, so I’m not looking for it to become Illustrator or InDesign. I just wish I didn’t have to move my work to another application at the final print-production stage.

If Figma had these tools, I would genuinely cancel my Adobe subscription.
