WOW this features is so OVER DUE -  we need to be able to copy comments into a new file - why ?
Becuase clients want to move the project to thier team in the middle of work
Because we would like to duplicate a work without loosing the comments in the next sprint
Because we do period.

How: when you copy files drag to select press a modifier key like CMD+Shift+Ctrl+ v
what happens to the comments - they are added as new comments with new numbering
easy right - So just do it

+1, this is very needed in professional business setting. Companies use freelancers for UX/UI and sometimes need to change the contractor, so they need to have the ability to duplicate the project with all the comments to other account.

Yes, We really need this feature to be able to copy / move comments to another design file.
‘Comments’ are critical to our design process, team communication, and workflow.

Bumping this up. After all this time still can’t duplicate a document while keeping the comments that were originally there. Meanwhile all sorts of other redundant features are being launched.

Hey! I built a small Figma plugin called Spool that moves comment threads when you copy frames between pages or files.

It keeps every comment at its exact position with replies and authorship intact. After pasting, you can delete the original threads from the source or destination file directly from the plugin. You can also export a full migration report as CSV.

If you try it, I'd really appreciate your feedback — there's a feedback form built right into the plugin (Help  > Send feedback) or please directly add your comments in the community. Hearing what works and what doesn't helps a ton.

Figma's had this request open for years — long enough there's now a tiny plugin turf war over it 😄 (hey Spool 👋).

I'm the dev behind Comments Mover — moves comments between any two files you can access, keeps the original authors, and you pick exactly which threads come along.
