I can’t imagine this feature request isn’t already out there in the wild in various forms, but I can’t find it and it’s a glaring black hole when it comes to basic UI design.
We’ve all needed to build (or at the very least encountered) a UI element that opens an overlay on click or hover (help text, nav drop-downs, etc.)
And yet, here we are in Figma in 2025, where building such interactions into a component that lives on a separate page with other neatly organized components BREAKS THE INTERACTION when an instance of said component is placed on other pages.
It’s like one of the most basic use cases and Figma cannot handle it. Not without janky “workarounds” that ignore the real problem. (Just saying, if the majority of what I try to do in Figma requires a “workaround,” there are deeper issues.)
