+1 to please add the ability to reposition Annotations. I am still using my old, home-brewed annotation component library because of this limitation. And I would love to fully shift over to Figma Annotations.

+1 to adding an ability to move annotations. They hover over my other designs and are becoming a nuisance. I may get rid of them in my design all together for this reason.

It’s been nearly a year and still no update here. Love annotations, they’re super helpful, but not being able to position them is a real usability issue.

Here to add on that I hope the annotations feature gets some love. Not being able to move Figma annotations is disruptive and crowds my canvases in ways I can’t control. I find it surprising that being able to move and adjust the annotations wasn’t a baseline requirement.

Hoping to see some improvement soon.

Also wanted to add - the ability to move them from one component to another would be a great time reduction.

+1 Please update the feature

Here to add other feedback from our team:

  1. No option for control over where the dotted connector line appears, and can overlap other components or artboards.

  2. No options for connector line- dotted, solid, ending in arrow or circle, etc
  3. No option for the annotation to be on the top, left, right, or bottom of the component

  4. Hard to use when they get smaller/bigger based on how you are zooming in/out.

  5. They get duplicated when you duplicate a screen (if you have too many annotations, it takes a lot of time to delete everything).

  6. Places the annotations outside the frame. This is fine if everything lives in an individual frame, but we put all of our designs in individual frames within a parent frame to group designs together.

Because of the parent frame, the annotations appear to the left or right of the very large frame. If the note is for a design in the center, the line will a) travel far thus making comments difficult to digest and b) traverse across other designs with a visible and distracting dotted line. This may be a specific use case in how we organize our screens.

Hey All, thank you for continuing to chime in here!

I’ve moved most of your replies and +1 feedback from this topic into this similar, existing one with more engagement within the Community. To be transparent, there is no exact timeline I can provide on when or if this will be implemented, but I’ll do my best to advocate on your behalf.

We appreciate your honest feedback. My team here on the forum will ensure it stays compiled here, so the team can easily reference it, when considering their future roadmap.

+1, not being able to reposition the annotation is frustrating and covers the designs on a neighboring screen design. Therefore I am not using the annotation feature even though I would very much like to.
