Can auto-emoji be disabled when typing?

My question is in the title. Can auto-emoji be disabled when typing? For example, when copy-pasting “↔” in a text field, Figma will automatically render the emoji that matches those arrows.

Can this (feature?) be disabled somewhere, maybe temporarily?
I looked around on https://help.figma.com/ but found nothing about.

Hey All,

it’s has been more than a year, any solution?

I am having the same annoying issue when trying to paste “↗” it’s always converting to this emoji ↗️

Have the same annoying problem, just need the  “↗”  instead of  emoji ↗️

I've realized when wanna do the same thing on previous draft. You need to make sure your font u are using is supports↗ character. If the font doesnt support it, it will automatically convert to emoji. That was my case

Also, needed “↗”. Change the font for the single character (ig emoji at the time) to “Figtree”, changed the emoji back into a character… as it should be. Crazy how it’s been ~4.5 years and this, very basic… not even a feature- more like a bug fix, hasn’t been implemented.

For those needing quick proof of whether this works, here’s a gif - we have a working workaround:

Gif of me changing the emoji’s font to one that does support the character, thus not showing an emoji.
