Better color management in Slides templates

Agreed! They created gimmicky “Remix colors” but forgot easy color management. You can’t even reorder the colors for Slides Mode (you can at least create folders but that only works in Design Mode). Ever since Figma went public they are more worried about expanding user base than making good products.

To be transparent, this feedback has been shared with our Slides team, and color/template management (including linking to libraries, and reordering/renaming) is something we're aware is a real pain point.
 

Currently, the fix isn't possible with a quick patch, but rather a bigger change in how template colors connect to libraries, which is on their longer-term roadmap. While I don't have a launch date to share, we’ll continue to keep this thread updated as we receive more concrete news.
 

In the meantime, a couple of temporary solutions mentioned above (naming conventions like "Category/Color", using slashes to group in the picker) are the best options available today. Thanks again for your patience and understanding!

Honestly, Figma Slides is one of the more needed Design tools, a tool that actually helps get ideas approved or shared. However, all we have gotten is a bunch of AI junk. Where are the updates?
 

Is it still really a thing that in 2026 it’s not possible to simply rearrange the order of colours that have been added to a Template Style? It’s galling. Everything about Figma Slides feels so MVP it’s annoying. 

Please Figma, forget about AI junk for 1 min and actually work on the tooling please. Some of us want to actually design and not just have the robots do it for us.
