Best way to handle background audio and playback state in a Thunkable meditation app?
Hi everyone,
I'm part of the mobile app team at Appagentix, and we're currently building an MVP for a guided meditation app in Thunkable. We usually work with Flutter and React Native, so we're still learning some of the Thunkable-specific ways of handling things. We're running into a few issues with audio playback. The app has 5 to 15 minute audio sessions streamed from Firebase Storage, and we want the experience to feel smooth on both iOS and Android.
**What's working:**
- Audio plays fine using the Sound component with a Firebase Storage URL.
- Basic play and pause buttons work on a single screen.
**Issues we're facing:**
1. When the user switches to another screen, the audio either stops or keeps playing with no way to control it.
2. When the phone locks or the app goes to the background, playback behaves differently on iOS and Android.
3. We want to save the user's progress (for example, if they stop at 6:30, they can resume from there), but we're not sure of the best way to track the current position reliably.
4. Longer audio files sometimes take a few seconds to start, which feels slow.
**Questions:**
- What's the best way to keep audio playing and controllable across multiple screens in Thunkable?
- Is background audio playback supported on both platforms, and are there any settings needed for it?
- How are others tracking and saving playback position (local storage vs. Firebase)?
- Any tips for reducing the delay before streamed audio starts playing?
Any advice, sample blocks or workarounds would be really appreciated. Thanks!
