This would greatly improve any design system where colors are used for shadows.

Mariglen_Doda

Any update on this? I love working with design system and this really bothers me.
I would like to be able to change a style color and if that color is used in shadows then I would like to see it reflected.

I too would love to see this implemented. Being able to recolor everything in your file doesn’t really work if you have styles on your components right now.

would also love to see this! ALL colors should be able to be tied to color styles for consistency.

Yiran_Wen

I really wish to apply the library colors to inner shadow and dropdown shadow T.T

David_Bonnet

It also wouldn’t make sense to use local variables (and switch to the costly enterprise plan since we surely will need more than 4 modes) if they cannot capture the colors of drop shadows and other effects.

It’s 2024, please let us do this so we can properly designate theming for elevations. 🙂

Why on earth is this not available? Seems pretty basic, no?

Why is the color library not shared between shadow and fill?

It is very frustrating to not have the design system palette available.

It’s 2025. How is this not implemented yet?

It’s a basic function of design process to apply a colour from a library.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong then?? This is what I get for drop shadow (and inner shadow):

But the fill works as it should:

Both are with the same shape on the canvas selected. Same for text objects as well.

You are using styles bro, switch to color variables, styles where outdated 2 year ago
You can use this plugin to convert your existing styles to variables https://www.figma.com/community/plugin/1253585487427690087/styles-to-variables-converter
