In Figma Slides today, the Layers Panel only shows when a slide is selected. This means if we have any objects outside of the slides, they are very difficult to modify. I think I understand the logic to keep the space cleaner but the space inevitably gets used for smart objects specific to the slides or things waiting to be assigned a slide and more. We have the full fledged functionality of Figma but got too clever by hiding the layers panel when working outside of a slide which hampers the program.

I agree with you! This is an extremely annoying behavior, I am in Design Mode in Grid View most of the time therefore I want constant and easy access to my Layers! In Slide view, the layers panels always shows up.
