We use a lot of gifs in our slides and you can’t insert the link to a gif in Figma slides.

Hello @Ashani_Escoffery it is possible to add Gifs.

(I tried with a simple drag and drop and previewed it before this message).

Enjoy.

When you say drag and drop where did you drag from? I was referring to adding gifs through the web platform Giphy (which gives you links to add to presentation slides)

From my finder. If you want to add links from any url it won’t work.

And i’m sorry i did not understand at first that you were talking about an external link (as a URL).

May be changing the name of the topic would clarify you request.

Regards

You can upload using Giphy link by

  1. copy gif’s link,

  2. click on “Image/Video” icon in Figma to trigger Upload window

  3. insert link into “File Name” entry field.

It will be downloaded to your PC automatically (you can delete it) and it’ll be visible and static on slide.

When you enter Preview Mode, GIF will be animated.

@Kate38

I can’t seem to repeat the same steps.

Would you be so kind to upload a screenshot ?

Of course! 😀 @Frederic_Fornini

At first you should choose a gif from Giphy and copy its link.

giphy share

Then you can click on Image icon or press Ctrl+Shift+K

In upload window will be empty field with File name title. Paste copied link from Giphy there and press Open button. (Mine is in Russian on the screenshot but it’s the same in all languages)

Click on the slide and gif will be there. Works with any images from any website if you have the link to them

This is awesome, thank you very much!

My team likes to add animated GIFS to their google slide decks, and they would be more likely to convert if we can have them in Figma slides.

This is not what the user was asking for (or at least not what I was hoping to accomplish.

Glad we can add gifs, however they don’t auto play unless switched to presentation mode. The majority of the times viewers consume the content on the slide/grid view and not in the presentation mode, and can easily miss out on the great design contents we want to showcase through the animated gifs. This has become a major blocker for the team to make the switch from google slides 😦

Hi, how do you do this on a mac? There is no entry field.

Download the gif and put it in the slides

This did not work, checked in present mode as well.

What do you mean by “didn’t work”? What exactly did you do and what results are you seeing?

I saved the gif to my desktop, tried dragging it into the Figma slides doc, also tried adding via add image. Both showed a static image of the gifs but neither actually played the gif in presentation mode. I saved multiple different gifs to see if it was an issue with a specific gif but none worked for me.

I have the same experience. Thank you for clarifying.

Did you solve it? I also don’t get an insert field. Drag and drop, I only get a still of my Giphy in it. Or by saving it and inserting it at video… I really don’t know how to solve…

Nope was never solved 😞

Folks, on Mac replace file’s name with that Giphy link described above and then insert the img into the deck, it will be animated when in presentation mode

It still doesn’t work on mac. Changing the file name to the link is not allowed on my mac.

Did anyone found a solution?

Same here, it doesn’t work on my Mac. And uploading a downloaded gif from my computer doesn’t work either, it’s just an image that doesn’t get animated even in presentation mode
