AI-Driven Text Metadata: Declare Content Type & Language for Dynamic Sample Text

Hossein_Salehi

Feature Request Description

Purpose

Enable designers to tag every text element or component instance with two properties—“Content Type” (e.g., username, numeric ID, full name, long-form example) and “Language” (e.g., en, fr, ja). Figma AI will then generate realistic placeholder strings that match these declarations each time an element is duplicated or an override is reset.

Key Benefits

  • Realism at Scale: Automatically populate design systems with varied, on-brand sample data, reducing manual editing.
  • Component Integrity: Preserve text styling and layout by avoiding manual overrides that risk breaking auto-layout or typography settings.
  • Localization Ready: Support global teams by generating sample text in the target language, improving internationalized design reviews.
  • Workflow Efficiency: Minimize busywork—designers spend less time crafting dummy text and more time refining user experiences.

Proposed UI & Workflow

  1. In the Properties panel, a collapsible “AI Sample Text” section beneath Typography.
  2. Dropdown for Content Type, with an option to add custom types.
  3. Language selector that defaults to the document’s primary locale but can be overridden per element or component.
  4. “Regenerate Sample” button to refresh text on demand.
  5. Toggle to auto-generate on instance creation or manual only.

Current Workaround

Currently I use plugins such as “Content Reel” with many predefined lists of information for each data types.
