Add a messaging substrate for comms to Teams, Workspaces, Organizations

There should be a way for Figma Admins and Workspace Admins (and potentially Team Owners) to be able to communicate Figma-specific news and information to members of specific projects/connected projects, teams, workspaces, or the entire organization (and groups, if they are ever added)

Currently, organizations have to use email, slack, Microsoft Teams, or other tools to communicate about Figma topics, and these messages are easily overlooked since they are outside of a Figma context.

It would be helpful to have a way to message discrete groups from within Figma. Examples of things that need to be communicated:

  • We made a major design system upgrade
  • New sticker sheets/templates are available
  • We have deprecated holiday colors. Please remove any hard-coded holiday colors in your active designs.
  • We have a new Workspace for xyz
  • New reference designs are available in your Connected Project. Please check the comms portal for more about this.

Other tools like those for Atlassian have a way for Admins to message all users from within the application. This could follow that philosophy, but be more powerful becasue of the more granular targeting available.

I’d love this too—getting quick feedback or nudging someone without leaving the file would save so much back-and-forth. Comment threads can get lost or feel too formal for small stuff.

I’ve felt this gap too, especially on projects with tight deadlines where faster team coordination matters. I ended up connecting a https://telxi.com to manage internal voice chats without switching tools. It’s not perfect, but it’s been a helpful workaround for now. A Figma-native way to do this would avoid hopping between tabs and help keep everyone on the same page during quick design reviews.

The new Product Group functionality in Enterprise allows you to tag a Product group and its members with any info, so that is one way to communicate to a broad audience.

While that’s not the kind of banner blast I imaged, it does start to address the need.

Hey @Martin_Hardee - I just wanted to drop a note and say I’m glad you were able to start utilizing groups! Would love to know what other refinements you’d like to see added. I’ll note the feedback for future improvements.

The group tagging is a great first step, and project groups also neatly solve some complicated user/access management issues where teams are working with one another.

For messaging, a nice extra would be if Admins could use the project groups to target popups/banners for critical messages, similar to what Figma does for messages. Something simple, with a link for more info.

I would put this under Admin control to make sure it doesn’t get too noisy!
