Ability to create custom frame sizes and prototype devices

I work for both desktop and mobile screens and I would like to save custom frame sizes and have them under a custom category. basic desktop sizes like 1366x768 is not available in the presets and the desktop category only has Mac screen devices as options.

The current ones have a skeleton view???

Didn’t know that! And just on the right, I design interfaces for coffee vending machines, so the skeleton view isn’t very relevant in my case. Plus it’s more low effort to just set a frame size as template, rather than having to add an image as skeleton and positioning it correctly.

Hey everyone !

I love Figma, but i have a problem. I can’t save a custom frame size.

It would be great if we can save our own custom frame size for different projects.

I don’t think it’s “hard” to implement, but it would be very useful.

It’s been few years since we had this request. It looks like there is no scope for it. I made a simple plugin with some popular devices and their screens sizes. You can make use of it till Figma plans to fix this.

Its pretty basic with just a list of frames. Try it out and share your feedback in the comments and I’ll try to get it done.

Would love being able to create my own device frames. The current solution of doing it manually is extremely cumbersome.
Whenever we work in non-standard types of devices it’s very important to remind the users and set the context that, even if they’re interacting through their computers, that UI is supposed to run somewhere else where mental models, needs and desires might differ substantially.

Having the option to choose a component as a frame would be good.

Often I will just create the device frame myself and the use that, however, it doesn’t work very well with prototypes as animations can get a bit weird, overlay backgrounds cover the device and slide-in animations slide over the device and not behind it.

I design for custom hardware, so I have unique device sizes etc.
Add to that, the majority of phone users don’t have iPhones…

I also design for embedded software that runs on custom hardware.

Not having the ability to customize a frame template to make it look like the UI is running on my harware is very limiting, and I have to go do all the prototyping in another tool.
