Currently, Figma’s offline mode only allows access to files and pages I’ve already opened, and syncs all changes back to the cloud once I’m online again.
However, there’s no way to download an entire project for full offline work, nor to sync only partial updates or diffs when reconnecting—something that would be extremely valuable for local-first workflows and for users with limited connectivity.
Given that incremental synchronization is a proven and efficient approach in other domains, are there any plans on your roadmap to enable:
-
Full project download for local work
-
More robust local caching (beyond just the current session/pages)
-
Syncing only diffs or partial updates, rather than entire files
Is this something you’re considering for the future of Figma? If not, what are the technical or product reasons behind the current cloud-first approach? I can imagine that project can be locked only for one editor with many visitors and in this mode I can imagine to allow it as it.
Thank you!
