In UI2, when you needed to add a property to a text component there was a button for it just next to a text field, so you when you use variants the text will be easy to change.
For some reason someone thought that putting that function under “Apply variables” button (with variant icon) and adding extra steps to access this function will be SO user friendly and so much better.

As a software for UX designers, have you even tested it on various UX designers?
When you read the amount of complains for new UI update, maybe it’s something you should consider to make your customers satisfy? At least bring back the option to bring back the old UI!

this whole ui is just bad now. penpot needs to hurry up and get to par on features, i’m so over this bloated ai garbage app

I wouldn’t take Penpot into account for a few years at least. The tokens they’ve announced a few months ago are total crap; they shouldn’t announce such a poorly-baked feature at all. And the overall design decisions across the app, I would say, are on about the same level with the current, ruined Figma’s UX

Hey everyone, thank you for surfacing this feedback around the added steps now required to add a property to a text component.

@Anastasia Zotov, if you're up for it, I’d appreciate a bit more detail on how this shift has impacted your workflow in this instance. For example — are you needing to change the text property frequently, finding that it was hard to locate at first, or both? This kind of context is helpful for us to flag to the product team and advocate for improvements.

Again, appreciate you taking the time to share your experience.
