With the rise of LLM-based “Vibe Coding” tools like V0 and Cursor, I’m expecting Figma to address this shift at Config 2025. This year has been transformational—it's now faster than ever to validate early ideas and prototype them with full interactivity. This speed benefits designers, teams, PMs, and users alike, making rapid iteration and validation a core part of the process.

In my practice, we quickly realized that traditional wireframing in Figma no longer felt as useful—especially since we’ve never been big fans of its prototyping layer. Figma’s strength has always been in UI design, but we’re now facing new bottlenecks:

1. Bridging the gap between AI-powered coding tools and high-fidelity UI in Figma.

2. Defining components in a way that makes them easily usable in these new workflows. (What does a design system look like in this new landscape)

As these AI-driven tools evolve, the question is: how will Figma adapt? Will they double down on their UI strengths, improve handoff workflows, or integrate more tightly with these emerging tools? Looking forward to seeing how they tackle this new landscape.

I could not disagree more.

Figma introduced much needed improvements in Prototyping in Config 2023, and since then, no significant progress has been made in that area.

Though I understand the pressure for AI tools and diversification from a Shareholder perspective, the Config 2025 result is VERY underwhelming. 3 half-baked tools that draw away resources from Figmas core product.

Figma has neglected its core product for 2 years in a big way and is becoming like Adobe (money grabbing, unfocussed, corporate).

I don’t think we are in disagreement. I agree theres been a lack of development, I work in design systems and things have stagnated since variables was introduced. It looks like post config 2025 they did introduce a bunch of new stuff including an LLM based UI creator to combat V0. Its still all got a long way to go though, there is such a wide base of new tools outside the figma eco system to compete with.

Thank you.

I expressed myself a bit stronger than needed. There is obviously some frustration there.

I have been a Figma user for almost 9 years and I would love to get excited about it again...
