Hej Figma,
thanks for turning Figma into the next Paint app, BUT from my POV Figma is a UI Design Tool for Designing Web + App UI´s run UX tests to follow Prototypes prevent fuckups.
nd last but but not least connect UI Designers und UI Dev more and let them speak with one tongue. (closing the gap between Design + Code → People)
Thats why I have a mayor pain point with Figma, let me try to explain
- You are adding more and more features changing Figma UI overnight.
- Features started half baked and are not evolving like Variables, eehm Tokens.
- You ignore Web standards (Layout-models, Margins?)
- Adding more or less useless Features, and let the essential ones stay in a beta forever.
- Tokens/Variables:
You ignore W3C standards, everything is max half baked.
The Variables-JSON file which is only possible to export using third party Plugins or Enterprise License using API is complete messed up an not useable in Token Workflows like Style Dictionary or Tailwind-
Variables released in 2023 still missing essential features be used in a real world Token workflow.
You still think you DEV view is awesome, it´s not! Coping AI/auto made CSS isn´t less great as you might think.
- Web Standards:
You constantly ignore webstandards, Missing Margins i.e. Layout models. there is no Autolayout in any Browser near me!!
Grids in Autolayout also half baked. Grids shine when using with FR/% sizing and container break points…. all of these missing. Autolayout is 80% flexbox so why not follwing defaults?
- Modern Web
You missed to provide moderns Fileformats, like AVIF, WebP
How about okLCH as Colorformat. Percentage/REM/EM/FR/ for sizing?
Pls Figma concentrate on being a UI App for UI DES/DEV´s pros.
Thanks
