Like many of us, I’m not totally on board with UI3. And, AFAIK, the new Apps don’t really make sense in their first iteration. But it’s an other matter.
I teach Figma to beginners and I’ve noticed that it gets harder for them to jump in and learn as fast as before. The interface is more cluttered. More clicks are needed some properties not directly accessible or placed elsewhere (why on earth would you separate position and size ? And Fitt’s Law is not really applied regarding size and distance of useful buttons (yes Add Variant, I’m talking about YOU!).
And more regrettably, heavily wanted workflow improvements still seem in a galaxy far far away :
. importing svg animation, where are you ? So hidden that i can’t see you or just not there ?
. Variant renaming still a problem in the layer panel as the “Property=” is directly editable there. Most of my students repeatedly make the error of renaming directly the variant there generating errors.
. Nearly all my students work on laptops, mainly 13” Macbooks, so think of them, they are your future customers
. When i copy a text or coloured style element from one project to another, the style is still referenced but not imported
. Importing sound, any time soon ? I mean, not importing video to import sound…
. Plugin management is still painful and floating windows are so 90s...
