When I open a comment in Figma and start replying, but then click outside of it to do something, when I click back in the comment to continue my reply, the text I’ve entered so far is gone. This has lead me to loose several bigger chunks of already written replies and it’s very frustrating.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open a Figma file with a comment there
- Click on comment to see the comment text/thread and the Reply field
- Click in Reply field to start adding a reply
- Type something in the Reply field, but don’t send it
- Click outside of the comment, anywhere on the canvas, so the comment box disappears
- Click on the comment again to bring back the comment box
- Reply field has been reset, the previously entered reply segment (that has not been sent) is gone
Expected way for this to work:
Reply text segment that has not been sent should be retained, so after doing something else and returning to the comment, the reply can be continued where it was left off.
Use cases:
- I’m reading a comment that asks me to do more than one thing, and I’m making the modifications while writing up my reply after doing each modification, one by one.
- I’m writing the reply but meanwhile I need to look something up for the sake of the reply, so I need to leave the reply writing temporarily.
- The comment marker is covering something that I need to look at for my reply, so I need to move the comment marker over to see what’s underneath, and then I’d be continuing to write my reply with that information in mind.
