Persistent sorting in Projects view

Hi Figma team,

I'd love to see sorting preferences persist across sessions in the Projects view. Currently, every time I navigate into a project and return to the home screen, the sort order resets to default.

Our team numbers all projects (01, 02, 03…) to maintain a clear workflow overview. Having to manually re-apply alphabetical sorting every single time is a small but repetitive friction point that interrupts the flow.

It would be great if Figma could remember the last used sort order, ideally per user or workspace. This seems like a relatively simple improvement that would benefit many teams who rely on consistent project naming conventions.

If this is already possible and I'm missing it, I'd love to know how.

We absolutely need this! In Home and folder views, the “Sort by” dropdown in the top right hand corner offers to sort alphabetically, by date created or last modified. However the settings reset very frequently and it’s not persistant. It must be a bug, because it doesn’t feel intentional. Should be a user preference (not team). Seems indeed like a small fix with a great effect! Thanks for taking action on this Figma! Please take action on this 🥺❤️

      This is such a annoying problem. I am having to jump between files constantly and it is so annoying to reset everytime.

        This has become more annoying for me since I’ve setup some nested folders like 

        01 - Discovery
        02 - Design

        etc.

        I understand there was a lot of pushback on it being persistent, I’d be happy if we could make the persistence sort type a per-folder inheritable property? So it can be changed but persists to your choice in the same way it now persists to latest.

          Sweet jeebus yes, this seems like a bug when the setting constantly resets!

          At the very least it should be persisted for an individual user’s session —if other folks who are logging into their Figma account in the team want to constantly play hunt-around-for-the-file/folder then more power to ‘em, but for those who want a persistent alphabetical sort why are you fighting them?

            Absolutely that’s the feeling! Probably cos it’s hidden behaviour there’s nothing that indicates it’s not going to stick.

              Maybe add your voices to this thread where other folks are voicing their opinion about this UX non-sense 😅. All our projects are numerically named (01 Strategy, 02 Presentations, etc,) so the Last modified default option is just messing things up for everyone, everyday…
