The only I way I know how is to make a change with the AI, or close/reopen the file. It’s too easy to accidentally open the popover without a way to exit
Hey @Marco_zzzz & @QCintheair, thanks for the feedback!
I can see how disruptive it is when the Agent popover opens accidentally and then blocks part of your canvas. We’re tracking similar feedback, and the team is exploring a clearer way to dismiss it.
For now, one temporary solution is to go to Figma menu → Preferences → Show Agents on canvas and turn that setting off. This will prevent the on-canvas Agent entry point from appearing.
Could you also let us know whether this happens in the browser, desktop app, or both? And whether pressing Esc , clicking the sparkle icon again, or clicking anywhere on the canvas does anything? Let us know, and we’ll pass this along to our team.
This happened in the desktop app on mac, and the escape key did not help, nor did clicking the sparkle icon. I got locked into “AI jail” until I took an AI action or closed the document.
I agree, the AI pop-over feels unnecessarily difficult to close. The exit control should be more obvious and easy to access, especially when it gets in the way of the workspace. Hopefully the Figma team can improve this in a future update.
+1 I keep having to try spamming esc to exit - but even that doesn’t work. why does the agent pop over not have a close button / why does esc not close it?
