Issue with Bulgarian Cyrillic on fonts

Hello!

I am a community advocate for FOF, Sofia for Bulgaria and we experience difficulties when we want to use Bulgarian Cyrillic in several fonts with the “Stylistic sets” feature, but Bulgarian Cyrillic just doesn’t work. When I try the same in Adobe Illustrator for example - there are no problems. The only solution we’re able to find is to change the font’s core defaults to this type of Cyrillic, otherwise, it is impossible to use the stylistic set in Figma.

Best Regards,

Hi everyone, Celyn from the Figma Community Support team here.

Thank you for continuing to share your feedback and highlighting how important proper support for Bulgarian Cyrillic letterforms is to your work.

I’ve passed your feedback along to the team, and this request remains on their radar.

I’ll update this thread if there’s anything new I’m able to share!

We had this issue with so many clients. With almost every bulgarian client, actually, especially the ones that prefer to have a free Google font. I think it’s time to fix this - all it takes is an option in the Figma UI to change the localization of the font.

Bulgarian cyrillic is beautiful and makes a huge difference in the overall look and feel.
