Hi, how long will this grace period last and will there be a better solution for Coursera students?

Thank you!

So do our files get deleted, or will they at least still be in there?

on another thread they updated saying files won’t be deleted/gave people verifying a grace period to verify, but don’t know how long grace period will last/ no update for coursera students verifying still

Just wondering if there’s been any update, and how long the grace period will be? Thank you!

Hi everyone - at this time, the answer remains the same.

Self-verification isn’t available for students in bootcamps or online courses, and Figma isn’t able to verify Education accounts for these programs.

To help you continue your work, we recommend using our free Starter plan. It includes up to 3 design files, AI credits, and is designed to support your course needs.

As a side note: if there are any bootcamp administrators that see this, you can apply to become a trusted bootcamp partner. If you are approved, you will be able to verify participants in your program. See here under ‘bootcamp and online courses’

Admins will need to fill out this form to begin the process here.

Beyond this information, I do not have additional notes I can provide at this time. Thank you for your understanding.

Hey everyone - first, apologies for the confusion and trouble with the verification process. I saw that a couple of you have already gotten in touch with support, but I wanted to also drop our most recent update:

At this time, self-verification isn’t available for students in bootcamps or online courses, and Figma isn’t able to directly verify Education accounts for these programs.

To help you continue your work, we recommend using our free Starter plan. It includes up to 3 design files, AI credits, and is designed to support your course needs.

Thank you for your understanding, and I hope this can give more clarity.

is this still being worked on or is the solution from ksn final? my profile now says it is locked.

Hi @Randi RojasDíaz

In order to proceed, Coursera would have to send us a comprehensive list of all students enrolled in order to grant status.

Due to this logistical challenge, we’ve seen some large programs decline to participate.Again, we encourage you to use our free Starter team instead, which offers you up to 3 free files, AI credits, and the ability to practice your course materials on your own.

Here are a few resources to assist with the transition:

Ok so the issue is this.

In effect the Edu PRO tier has been dropped for Coursera students - neither Figma or Coursera are willing to speak to each other, so verification as a student is no longer possible for those studying with Coursera.

The Starter account doesn’t give enough access for the course, and more to the point its locked away work already carried out (since the prototype save for the free tier was not one of choice, which would at least have helped by selecting the main one working on) . I’m on my final module doing a an app for Social Good, a Housing toolkit for Housing Officers and Homeless Customers so the timing couldn’t have been worse, but there is little option but to upgrade to access the material, or rebuild. Perhaps that is the point or intent but it represents a paywall to complete the course for those already engaged,.

As to the logistical challenge, it is disappointing that two digital first platform companies cannot manage this or find an interim solution.

Its poor service on account of both companies and devalues the course.

Hey @casluc! I’ve shared your feedback internally so the team is aware of how this impacts active Coursera students. Your experience is valid and I genuinely appreciate you sharing it with us.

For now, the Starter plan is the best available option, even though I know it isn’t ideal for the scope of your coursework. To help you continue working, I recommend reorganising your files within the Starter plan limits. If you have more than the allowed number of files, I recommend moving extra files into Drafts.

You can find more detailed guidance in our Help Center article.

Just to recap the Starter plan limitations:

  • Up to 3 total Figma Design + Figma Sites files per project
  • 3 files per other product (like FigJam)
  • Only one project allowed
  • Any published sites or apps will automatically become unpublished

Again, I know this isn’t the best experience you were expecting, and I genuinely appreciate you sharing your concerns.

Your project sounds very impressive. I really hope you’re still able to carry it our through to the finish despite the starter plan limitations. Wishing you all the best with the final module!

Hello Figma Community,

I’m currently enrolled in the Google UX Design course on Coursera and have been using Figma Education Pro through this program.

I received an email asking me to re-verify my student status, so I selected “Bootcamp / Online Program”, but I got the message:

“Bootcamp students & educators: You cannot self-verify, you must be verified by your bootcamp. Please reach out to them directly with any questions.”

Since Coursera is an online program, not a traditional bootcamp, I don’t have an admin to verify me. Coursera support says I should self-verify, but Figma doesn’t allow it for online students.

I want to know:

  1. How can online course students like me maintain Education Pro access?

  2. Will our accounts automatically downgrade to Starter after Sept 29 if no verification is possible?

  3. Are there any workarounds for students using Coursera to continue using unlimited files and full Figma Pro features?

Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hey, any update on your query?
