Same issue. The Coursera don’t have admins to verify :(
Hi everyone - first, I can confirm that if you do not re-verify your education status by September 29, 2025, your Education team will be downgraded to the free Starter plan, where you'll lose access to Professional plan features.
If you have additional questions about your specific program, I’d recommend reaching out directly to Coursera support, as they’ll be best positioned to help!

Coursera support said to self-verify Figma or to reach out to Figma support 😅 There is no admins in the course that can verify all the users… So we kind of stuck in the middle of the learning.
Hi,
This problem definitely needs to be addressed on Figma's side. Coursera hasn’t changed anything with how their online courses work. I would also like to better understand what changed with Figma’s verification process because this wasn’t an issue last time I had to re-verify a few months ago.
Until something moves on this, we have potentially thousands of students who will be unable to start/finish the course they paid for.
In a similar boat, been doing a Michigan course through Coursera that uses Figma. Anyone have any update on this? Love that we can’t contact Figma directly without paying.
Hi everyone, thank you for sharing your experiences here! I can see this is affecting quite a few of you, I’ve gone ahead and flagged this internally with our team to better understand what changed with the verification process and what solutions might be available for students in Coursera.
Please know this is on our radar and I’ll follow up here as soon as I hear back from the team. Appreciate your patience in the meantime!

Thank you for looking into this. I'd appreciate the feedback as well because I'm in the same boat. Even wrote an email to Figma Edu exactly 10 days ago concerning the issue but there hasn't been a response.

Thanks for looking into this and keeping us updated. I am also going through the same issue, Since the verification end date is approaching soon, could you please let us know if there’s any expected timeline for a resolution? It would really help us plan ahead and avoid missing deadlines.
Same issue. The Coursera don’t have admins to verify :(
looking forward to a resolution for this, Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Stuck in the same issue, here. Replying to get flagged in any proposed fix.
I’m facing the same issue on my end as well, so any solution would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same issue. But Figma support and Coursera support do not answer on mails or respond in tickets.
Hey everyone - first, apologies for the confusion and trouble with the verification process. I saw that a couple of you have already gotten in touch with support, but I wanted to also drop our most recent update:
At this time, self-verification isn’t available for students in bootcamps or online courses, and Figma isn’t able to directly verify Education accounts for these programs.
To help you continue your work, we recommend using our free Starter plan. It includes up to 3 design files, AI credits, and is designed to support your course needs.
Thank you for your understanding, and I hope this can give more clarity.

So basically you’re saying that all Coursera students ( that are - actually - Students ) can’t keep their Figma Education Plan and simply doesn’t exist for Figma. Many of us that were already students of Coursera courses have been self-verified with any issues until a few months ago, and now suddendly we’re not considered as students anymore ?.
Why online programs as Coursera haven’t been included as an option for Figma’s bootcamp partners when this change of verification process has been planned ?.
Is there an option for Coursera to contact Figma in order to join your list of partners ( even if they don’t have a admin service ) ?
I’m hoping as everyone else that we can look forward to another resolution for this issue that we’re all facing today.
Hi, thank you for your reply.
I’d like to share my perspective, because I feel this situation is very unfair.
I’m currently a student in the Google UX/UI Certificate through Coursera, which I’m taking thanks to the FUNDAE employment program in Spain. This means that I’m officially a student, but also unemployed, and relying on this course to re-enter the job market.
Restricting the Education plan only to certain bootcamps (which are paid and often very expensive) creates a huge barrier for people like me, who are actively learning, building a portfolio, and trying to use Figma to its full potential — but simply don’t have the money to afford extra tools.
I kindly ask you to reconsider this policy, because for students in my situation, access to the full Education plan isn’t just about learning software — it’s about having a fair chance to build a career.
Thank you for understanding.

Hello Figma Community,
I’m currently enrolled in the Google UX Design course on Coursera and have been using Figma Education Pro through this program.
I received an email asking me to re-verify my student status, so I selected “Bootcamp / Online Program”, but I got the message:
“Bootcamp students & educators: You cannot self-verify, you must be verified by your bootcamp. Please reach out to them directly with any questions.”
Since Coursera is an online program, not a traditional bootcamp, I don’t have an admin to verify me. Coursera support says I should self-verify, but Figma doesn’t allow it for online students.
I want to know:
-
How can online course students like me maintain Education Pro access?
-
Will our accounts automatically downgrade to Starter after Sept 29 if no verification is possible?
-
Are there any workarounds for students using Coursera to continue using unlimited files and full Figma Pro features?
Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
am facing the same problem. figma forum have to look in to our cases!
Only One Day Left and there is no response from both companies.
Hey @Zoey Li and everyone following this thread — I’m really sorry to hear about the trouble with verifying your accounts. We’re taking a closer look at the reports you’ve shared here.
In the meantime, I want to share this important update:
Wednesday, September 24, 2025 Update
Figma has extended a grace period for students in the process of reverifying their education status. You will not lose access to your account or files on September 29. To ensure ongoing access, please complete your reverification promptly.
For more information, keep an eye on this announcement post: Updates to our Figma Education plan.
I hope this eases some of the pressure. Thank you for your patience while we work to get this sorted.
Hi, how long will this grace period last and will there be a better solution for Coursera students?
Thank you!
