Figma AI credits are way too limited for Professional users

I'm paying for a Professional seat, and somehow I burn through my monthly AI credits after generating just a few screens.

For roughly the same price, I can get way more done with Codex. Figma really needs to rethink these limits.

Hey @ichu, thanks for sharing your feedback on the credit limits, and I’ll pass it along to our team internally.

A Full seat on the Professional plan includes 3,000 AI credits per month. Figma Make and the Figma agent in Figma Design don’t use a flat cost per prompt. The amount depends on how complex the task is and how much context is involved, like attached files, design libraries, or a long prompt history.

A few tips can help your credits last longer with the Figma agent.

  • Start a new chat for each new task. The agent re-reads everything earlier in a chat each time you send a prompt, so long chats can use more credits, even for small requests.
  • Be specific in your first prompt. If the first prompt is vague, you’ll need extra prompts to fix the result, and each of those uses credits too.
  • Only share what the agent needs. Select just the frame you’re working on, not the whole page, and skip attachments or connectors you don’t need for that task.

You’ll find more in Best practices for optimizing AI credits with the Figma agent, or Best practices for optimizing AI credits in Figma Make if you were using Figma Make.

If your credits ran out faster than that, we’d like to take a closer look. Please submit a request through our Support hub with the prompt, a screenshot of the credit usage, whether you were using Figma Make or the Figma agent, and the file link. Please share the file with support-share@figma.com using Can view access, which won’t affect your seats or billing.

If you need more than your seat includes, a team admin can add credits with an AI credits subscription or pay-as-you-go billing, which only charges for what’s used up to a spending limit they set. The steps are in Manage AI credits. Seat credits reset monthly and don’t roll over.

Thanks again for taking the time to share this and let me know if you have any further questions!

We share this frustration. We already use Markdown reference files, connected Make kits, and fresh chats for each task, yet credit consumption remains high and unpredictable.

Our biggest concern is the lack of control over spending, especially when repeated iterations are needed because the AI misinterprets or ignores explicit instructions. We end up paying more to correct mistakes we didn’t cause, without knowing how many credits reaching the intended result will take.

Professional use requires predictable costs and meaningful control over consumption, not simply the option to buy more credits.
