Hey everyone! ๐Ÿ‘‹

While working on multiple Figma files and projects recently, I had a thought:
Wouldn't it be amazing if Figma allowed us to group open tabs โ€“ just like how Google Chrome lets you group browser tabs?

Think about it:

  • Youโ€™re juggling 10+ Figma files โ€“ components, design systems, live projects, brainstorm boards, etc.

  • Having the ability to visually group tabs by project, workflow stage, or type (e.g., assets, prototypes) would massively boost productivity and reduce visual clutter.

  • Maybe even color-code them or collapse/expand tab groups? ๐Ÿ”ฅ

This small feature could make a huge difference for designers, especially in larger teams or during fast-paced sprints.

๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Letโ€™s Discuss:

  • Do you also feel overwhelmed by too many open tabs in Figma?

  • How would tab grouping improve your workflow?

  • What would be your ideal way to organize Figma tabs?

Letโ€™s get the communityโ€™s voice heard โ€“ maybe the Figma team will notice! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Absolutely agree! ๐Ÿ™Œ
This idea hits home โ€“ juggling multiple Figma tabs during fast-paced sprints can get really overwhelming. I often find myself hunting for the right tab, especially when switching between components, design system files, and ongoing screens.

Tab grouping โ€“ especially with labels, colors, or even the ability to collapse groups โ€“ would be a game-changer.
Just like Chrome's tab groups, it could let us organize files by:

  • ๐Ÿ”น Project (Client A, Internal Tools)

  • ๐Ÿ”น Type (Components, Prototypes, Assets)

  • ๐Ÿ”น Workflow stage (In Progress, Review, Final)

Itโ€™s not just about aesthetics โ€“ itโ€™s about focus and flow. Cleaner workspace, fewer distractions, faster access.

Would love to see this feature get traction. Hope the Figma team is listening! ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ’ก
+1 from me! โœ
