"You are not allowed to copy this file" but I own the file?

Hello! 

I have a file where I keep all my CVs, I’m trying to copy an A4 frame to make a new version, but I keep getting the alert "You are not allowed to copy this file". I gave figma a break for about a week, but the same issue is still persisting. It’s my own file, so I’m not sure why it would suddenly lock me out like this. Any help would be appreciated! 

Update: it only does this on the web based browser version. The computer app is completely fine. The web based version also won’t let me export anything.

    If you're still seeing "You are not allowed to copy this file" after that, it's likely separate from the incident this thread started with, and our Customer Support team can dig into your setup directly. Head to the Support Hub → Start a chat → type "Report a bug", and share the affected file with support-share@figma.com with view access. A screenshot or short recording of the error helps too. 🙏🏻

    Hey, I’ve been experiencing the same issue on the web for several months now. It’s still not going anywhere… I can’t even copy or export my own files. 😭

    Hey ​@zozo ke, sorry you're still running into this this.

    The incident behind this thread was fixed back in July, so a web-only report this long-running may be browser clipboard permission rather than the file itself. Worth a quick check: in Chrome, click the icon just left of the address bar → toggle the clipboard permission for figma.com off and back on → then reload the file. Another designer on this thread also found that leaving the file and re-opening it cleared it.

    If those don’t do it, a couple of details would help me narrow it down. Please reply with:

    1. which browser and OS you're on, and
    2. whether the same thing happens in an incognito/private window.

    Hi ​@Rion Haber 👋 Thanks for your post. I’d love to help troubleshoot this with you. It likely needs to go to support and there are a few questions we can ask to help us get started:

    • Is this isolated to browser or desktop?
    • Does it still occur if you use an incognito tab or sign in using a completely different browser?
    • Can you grab a quick gif or screen recording of the issue happening?
    • Do you get an additional warnings or messages after it fails?
    • Is this both with copy and with share?
