Hi,

Please, I would like to report an issue with Figma and Figjam. I didn’t found anyone else taking about this specifically.

What

When pasting a frame with component instances from Figma to Figjam, some components get reset to the default state.

Details

The frame contains component instances and nested components inside, with it’s instances changed. For example, an app UI with the entire header or top navigation as a component, and the buttons inside it are nested components with icons. The icons are reset to default.

When I modify the instanced icon to anything else, copy, then paste to Figjam, the icon is retained, I can even change back to the previous icon, and it will paste correctly in Figjam. Apparently, I have to force a change in the instance, and it will be retained. The problem is that there are far too many frames and instances for me to “shake it” and make it work.

Without knowing the issue, I don’t know exactly if I can prevent it from happening again.

This has been forcing us to use PNG’s only for layouts in Figjam. (While I think it was useful to have editable text layers in Figjam).

Original frame

Frame pasted in Figjam. Noticed the icon button on the top nav changed to the gear icon (the component’s default).
Changing to another icon instance, then changing back to the original (No undo), fixes the issue.

It is far too time-consuming to do this fix for all frames and instances. And it doesn’t happen to all icons. As demonstrated on the screenshots, it happened with the back arrow and the “X” clear icon on the email field. The other icons were retained correctly. So it is a bit unpredictable.

Thanks!

Hi there,

Thank you for providing such detailed information about this issue. It looks strange. I tried reproducing this on my end with a test instance, but everything seems to be working correctly in my environment. As you pointed out, this might be specific to certain nested instance configurations.

Since I can't replicate the issue, would you mind submitting a bug report? This would give our support team the information they need to properly investigate what's happening in your specific case.

Thanks, for your patience!
