Wrap in New Section messes up a vector drawing

I have a vector graphic that consist of 40 “rectangles” arranged in an arch. “Rectangles” are slightly arched too, they don’t have straight lines. When I select that arched graphic with other graphics and use Wrap in New Section command, the graphic gets messed up, top-left points stay where they were, but other points move horizontally about 12px. Attached is a screenshot of the before and after states of the graphic:

If I create a section, then move the graphic into it, the drawing stays as it should be.

Hi @Sasha_Radojevic! Thanks for your post and the screenshots.

I’m glad that you found a way around the issue - that’s a pretty weird result. Are you using the Desktop app or the browser app? I tried a recreating this with a simplified version of your vectors but couldn’t reproduce what you are seeing.

To make these I just made one vector rectangle, bent the top and bottom, the duplicated and rotated. Is there something different with yours? I’m guessing I’m missing some elements of the design.

Hi @adamsmasher , thanks for checking out my report!

I’m using the browser app in Chrome.

Bellow is the problematic frame,  copy it to your draft and wrap it in a section with another object (i.e. rectangle).

BTW, I made the arch by using a Stretch Brush in the Draw mode, outlined the stroke, then cut & paste each rectangle to separate them.

Awesome - thanks for sharing that, @Sasha_Radojevic!

I copied this to my own design document to test with. In order to see the Wrap in New Section option I needed to ungroup the layer. After doing that, I added a rectangle, then selected all of the layers and used the option. For me, it didn’t replicate what you have in your original screenshot.

I’m using the newest version of Chrome (Version 147.0.7727.56 (Official Build) (arm64)) in the newest version of mac OS (Tahoe 26.4.1 (25E253)), and this computer is a 14” 2024 M4 MacBook Pro. I’m wondering if this is a bit more specific with hardware or graphics.

@adamsmasher , you should keep the original frame, draw a rectangle outside the frame, then select those two to create a section.

Thanks for the added detail, @Sasha_Radojevic

I was able to replicate this once I followed those steps, so I am submitting a bug report. Thanks again for the extra details.

Hey @Sasha_Radojevic, thanks for the report. I can repro by copy/pasting your example, although I haven’t been able to repro by creating vectors from scratch.

Would you mind describing the sequence of edit actions you took to create your example from scratch? It would help us narrow down exactly what kinds of edits or properties might lead to this.
