I am experiencing an issue with the Figma desktop application on Windows 11 Pro.

Problem Description:
When I launch the app, the main window appears completely gray. Only the home screen icon (house) and the "New design file" button (plus sign) are visible. The main interface with files and projects does not load.

What I have tried:

  1. Completely reinstalling the Figma desktop app (downloaded the latest version from the official website).

  2. The issue persists after reinstallation.

  3. Important: The Figma web version in my browser works without any problems.

My Environment:

  • Operating System: Windows 11 Pro

  • Location: Russian Federation

  • App Status: Latest version, fresh install

Could you please advise on how to resolve this issue? I look forward to your response.

Thank you in advance,
Yan

Hi @clashovhirols

I understand that you’re experiencing a gray/blank screen when launching the Figma desktop app on Windows 11, while the browser version works without any issues.

To start with some basic checks, could you please confirm the following:

  • You’re running the latest version of Windows (64-bit)
  • Your graphics card drivers are fully up to date
  • If you’re using a VPN, firewall, or proxy, please try temporarily disabling them to see if that makes a difference

Note: The Figma desktop app doesn’t support running behind a proxy. If you’re using a proxy, you’ll need to use Figma in the browser instead.
You can find more details here:  Guide to the Figma desktop app

If your machine meets the requirements and you’re not using a proxy, there may be a compatibility issue between the app and your graphics card. In that case, please try the following:

  1. Start the Figma desktop app.
  2. Right-click the Figma icon in the system tray.
  3. Go to Troubleshooting → Prefer High-Performance GPU and make sure this option is unchecked.
  4. Click Restart when prompted.

If you don’t see the Figma icon in the system tray, please try clearing the Figma desktop app cache and then launch the app again.

If the issue still persists after trying the steps above, please let us know what you’ve already tried and the results. I can then help create a support ticket so our team can investigate this further.

Thanks,
