When I have edit access to a file, I really don’t want to always land in dev mode. Any time I open a figma file link from my teammates (who also have edit access and haven’t marked anything “Ready for dev”), opening them lands me in dev mode. It’s super annoying. I never use it, since I am more comfortable viewing and reviewing designs in the traditional edit mode. And outside of our team will full edit seats, no one even has access to dev mode! So it’s not like any viewer with a lesser set of permissions would get dropped into dev mode anyway; why is that the default?!

yes, “m=dev” is there. Usually these are links coming from Jira tickets, via “share” or command-L on the relevant frame.
Hey @Alissa_Rubin 👋 Looking at the documentation, the only way we should get links with m=dev is when someone is in Dev Mode at the time they generate the link.
Can you get a link with m=dev while not in Dev Mode in your tests? If so, a quick screen recording will help me flag this with support. Otherwise, I'd look at who or what is populating the links in Jira — that's the workflow to change if you need them opening in design.
In the meantime, Shift D toggles you back, and deleting &m=dev from the URL works too. There's no setting to disable this on your end.
