Question

Why are my URL links for Figma Slides so long now?

Rinata Berdnyk

Around 2–3 months ago, Figma links to slides and frames used to be shorter and cleaner. Now, when you copy a link to a slide, frame, or object, the URL is significantly longer and more complex.

Hey @Rinata Berdnyk,! That’s a really good observation, and I can see how the longer links might feel less user-friendly compared to the shorter one. I’m not entirely sure what’s behind the change either, but I’ll check in with the team to get more clarity and let you know as soon as I hear back. Appreciate you bringing this up!

Hey everyone, apologies for the delayed response but I’ve got updates from the team.

Slide links have always been a bit long, especially when copied directly as they include extra parts in the URL. But you can manually remove those extra bits before sharing.

Here is an example of a full link: https://www.figma.com/slides/DMmETQz7RkV1gan918Dz0z/Light-slides?node-id=1-553&t=Edkcnhdgijlda47D-0.
If you want the shortest url you can remove everything after /slides/<fileKey>: https://www.figma.com/slides/DMmETQz7RkV1gan918Dz0z and the link should still work. Note that this removes direct linking to a specific slide.

If you want to preserve this then you need to keep the ?node-id= param https://www.figma.com/slides/DMmETQz7RkV1gan918Dz0z?node-id=1-553

We're working on an update to make slide links shorter soon, stay tuned!
