Weird Text Behaviour

DORUSO

Text weirdly breaks within words when scaling a textfield. It’s plain text with no editing or line breaks, however text breaks within words or lines.

Anyone else having this problem?

Hi @DORUSO

Thanks for flagging this! That does sound odd. I just tried on my end here and it seems to be working correctly for me.

Could you possibly share a screen recording or some screenshots of what you're seeing? That would be really helpful in understanding exactly what the problem is.

Thanks for your patience.

Toku

Sarah_Lashinsky

I have had this problem as well. I am having this problem with text copied from Vidlet. Copying into another program does not strip this strange breaking behavior.

Same problem, random word or letter breaks all over the place. Commitment should break the whole word, not the letters.

Hi everyone, thanks for flagging this! I’m working closely with Toku here and happy to help!

I tried to reproduce the issue on my end, but everything seems also to be working fine. We don’t also have access to the video recording from DORUSO anymore. Is this happening for you in the browser, the desktop app, or both?
As a first step, could you try force-quitting and restarting Figma to see if that resolves it?

If the issue continues, I’d recommend reaching out to our support team by submitting a bug report. In the form, please use your Figma account email, include your screenshot, the URL of the affected file, and grant can edit access to support-share@figma.com. This will allow our support team to investigate the root cause more closely. Thanks!

Same issue here! Happens when I copy/paste text from Jira. Tried copy / paste, paste as text, copy as text, pasting text in different apps in an attempt to strip off any formatting. Only solution I found was to type out text by hand. :(

Sara McLachlan

same problem here - words breaking across lines. Doesn’t matter if paste from a source with all formatting stripped

Hey @NuPixel_UX_UI , thanks for sharing your video recording! I’ve just sent you a DM with some important next steps so we can gather the details needed to investigate. Please take a look when you can.

For @Sara McLachlan , after checking with our Technical Quality team, it appears the issue in your file is caused by a non-breaking space in this location. This may have been copied from somewhere, or accidentally entered (on macOS, it can be typed with Option + Space). Because of this character, the wrapping you’re seeing is expected behavior.
You should be able to resolve it by replacing the problematic space with regular space. Please reply directly to your support ticket, the team is currently waiting for your response.

For anyone else following this thread, please try checking for non-breaking spaces as well.

If the issue continues, please reach out to our support team for further investigation here. This will help our team to get the bottom of this! When submitting your request, include:

  • The URL of the affected file
  • An invite for support-share@figma.com with “can edit” permissions

To do this:

  1. Open our Support Hub
  2. In the search bar, enter “report a bug”
  3. Click “Start a chat”
  4. Type “report a bug” and press “Enter”
  5. Respond to the next question with “Yes”
  6. Submit the bug report

Thank you! 🙏🏼
