Wacom pen Pan/Scroll + Command no longer zooms the canvas in Figma Desktop on macOS

Environment

• macOS: 27.0.1 (26A434)

• Figma Desktop: 126.10.13

• Tablet: Wacom Intuos

• Wacom driver: latest version

• Input device: Wacom pen side button assigned to Pan/Scroll in Wacom Center

Description

Until about a week ago, I could zoom in and out of the Figma canvas using this workflow:

1. Hold Command on my Mac keyboard.

2. Press and hold one of the side buttons on my Wacom pen.

3. The pen button is assigned to Pan/Scroll in the Wacom desktop app.

4. Dragging the pen would zoom the Figma canvas in and out.

This no longer works in the Figma Desktop app.

What I’ve tried

• Updated to the latest Wacom driver.

• Reassigned and tested different Wacom pen-button functions, including Pan/Scroll and other navigation options.

• Restarted Figma and the Mac after changing Wacom settings.

• Verified that the same physical key combination works correctly in Figma running in Safari.

Expected behavior

With Command held on the keyboard and the Wacom pen button set to Pan/Scroll, dragging the pen should zoom the Figma canvas in and out, as it did previously and as it still does in Figma in Safari.

Actual behavior

In Figma Desktop, the canvas does not zoom. Depending on the Wacom setting, the input is either ignored or triggers unintended macOS behavior, such as the input-source/language-switch dialog.

Additional notes

Because the exact same Wacom setup and Command + Pan/Scroll combination works in Figma in Safari, this appears to be specific to how the Figma Desktop app handles Wacom-generated scroll/pan events or modifier-key combinations.

Could you please investigate whether a recent Figma Desktop update changed the handling of Wacom scroll input or Command + scroll events?

Thanks—I’d really appreciate any guidance or fix, as this workflow is central to how I navigate Figma with my tablet.

Hey all! An update:

After discussions with our technical quality and engineering team, the suggested solution is that you roll your drivers back to the previous one Wacom had in production, and reach out to their support team for further assistance. They may be able to help with reviewing the updates to see what may have affected your experience within Figma overall.

While Wacom tablets can often be paired with Figma/Figjam for use, we don’t currently provide official support of it. That, combined with all of your helpful testing, have led us to this conclusion.

Thank you for your patience while I looked into this, and apologies if this causes an inconvenience.

Hey @nikolas grigoriou - thank you for joining us on the forum! I understand that the behavior between using your wacom tablet/pencil seem to have changed.

Can you try using Figma in a different browser (if you have one outside of Safari), and see if the behavior persists there too? If it does, it confirms the likelihood of this being limited to the desktop app. I’d like to start there.

Thank you!

Thanks for the reply @ksn !
I can confirm that the same applies on Google Chrome, everything works as expected. So, I guess it has to do with the Figma desktop app.

I had problems with Pan/Scroll in Figma layers list right after updating to Wacom Driver 6.4.15-1.
Reverting drivers to 6.4.14-2 solved the Figma issue…

Thanks everyone for reporting. I’m inquiring internally about this now. From what I’m gathering, it’s limited to the desktop app specifically, and it seems tied to Wacom’s recent driver update (thanks @Pyetro for providing that info).

At this time, my recommendation for you both @nikolas grigoriou @gang is to also try reverting back to the former driver to see if things start working as expected again. I will update when I learn more!

EDIT: one suggestion from our engineering team is to try using the Figma beta desktop app with the new driver, if you can do so -- the result here will also be helpful. If you can give that a try, let me know how it goes!

Thanks for the reply! I can confirm that with the latest Figma Beta, the unexpected behaviour is the same as within the latest Figma desktop app @ksn.
