Videos in Figma Slideshow(s) not loading

Hi all,

My team uses Figma Slides for frequent presentations and have recently run into a new issue. The videos on our slides are suddenly very slow to load, if at all. When I go into presenter view the first couple slides are typically fine, but as I go through the presentation they stop working, often being stuck on the first image instead of playing.

It has worked perfectly up until this week, and the issue has affected myself and several colleagues (all of whom have similar presentations, but they are their own distinct files). These presentations are essentially all duplicates with a few changes, and they live in the same team.

I've tried everything suggested online

- clearing my cache and browsing data

-ensuring the computer storage has ample space

-webGL is enabled

-the issue is both on the app and browser (a lot of people suggested using browser to solve this, but I have always used the browser instead of the app)

- the videos are all directly in the presentation, they aren't coming from Youtube or another site

Not sure if this is a Figma issue, an issue with my company (contacted my Comms team), a computer issue, or something else.

Any help or insight would be very appreciated!

Hey @Noah Hook 🤩 Thanks for your post. I have a some questions to help us troubleshoot this:

  • What plan are you and your colleagues using? Pro or EDU, for example
  • Can you share a screen recording: full screen, not zoomed, starting from the moment you open presenter view and running through to the first video that won't play
  • Can you share the link, please invite support-share@figma.com as a viewer on the file. Adding us won't affect your billing or take up a seat on your team

  • Where are you presenting from?

  • Do the images on your slides still load normally when the videos stop working, or are those slow and low-res too?

  • Where did the videos come from — exported from an editor, recorded on a phone, screen captures? Are they MP4, MOV, or WebM

Thanks for the additional details! — Jaycee
