When variables are applied components look differently (see image – the bottom component is higher and the setting is the same). Figma does this on almost every component with paddings, height even radiuses are different than designed.

Using variables leands to weird and random dimensions of components

I understand that you're seeing an issue where applying a number variable to the Gap (horizontal gap between objects) causes the vertical padding to differ from when you directly set the Gap to the same numerical value. You also mentioned that this isn't the only issue - applying variables to other Auto Layout settings and Corner radius can also result in unexpected behavior.
I've tried to reproduce this on my end, but I haven't been able to so far. It's possible I'm misunderstanding exactly what you're seeing, so a video recording would be super helpful!
When you record, please:
- Show your full Figma screen.
- In the left panel, make sure to expand the relevant layers.
- In the right panel, display the properties panel so we can see your settings details.
This will really help us understand exactly what's going on and how we can best assist you.

In the video, when the component is duplicated it changes it height.
I recently odded some more variable schemes – and that’ß when the glitches started.
I made that video yesterday (so it’s not ful screen as you wanted it).
Today everything seems working OK.
If the glitch shows again, I will record the screen and send it to you.
