I’m currently having an issue with my Figma Education status and would appreciate any guidance.
For the past 1–2 years, I used my personal Figma account for university coursework, with my student status verified using my university email.
During the recent Education renewal process, the instructions seemed to require verification through my university-issued email, so I created and verified a new Education account using my school email.
However, my original personal account still has the edit permissions for my existing university team files. I am currently working on several active projects in those files, and Figma is warning me that I will lose edit access within 7 days if my Education status is not resolved.
I have already submitted the “Request to Move Figma Edu Status” form and also contacted education@figma.com.
I would like to move or restore the Education status to my original personal account so I can keep my existing team memberships and edit permissions.
Since I have ongoing university and competition projects that I need to continue editing, is there any way to expedite or escalate this request before my edit access expires?
Any advice from Figma staff or anyone who has experienced a similar issue would be greatly appreciated.

I understand that your existing university projects and team memberships are tied to your personal account, and that you’ve already submitted the Request to Move Figma Edu Status form.
While this form can be used when Education status has been applied to the wrong account, please note that Education status can’t be moved from an account associated with an educational email address to one associated with a personal email address. This means the status associated with your university account can’t be transferred to your personal account.
To help you maintain access to your active projects, we recommend asking the owner or admin of the relevant team, folders, or files to invite your verified university account with the appropriate edit permissions.
If your goal is to consolidate your files under the verified university account rather than move the Education status itself, our Transfer a folder or team to a different account article outlines the available options and the plan and admin requirements for each type of transfer.
I can also confirm that your email to education@figma.com was received under ticket #2116398. I’ve added an internal note to let the team know that you’ve also reached out through the forum. I would also like to confirm whether Figma’s Education policy has recently changed.
