Unexpected Charges After Subscription Cancellation

Hello I was reaching out to see if I can get refund on my previous charges for Figma subscription from March-July on my account. I had a final project for my university class due in May and we were required to use Figma. Our University provides us with Figma service to help cover the cost for education related services which I was unaware Figma was one of them of at the time, but I used a free trial and paid for two months of the trial initially until spoke to my professor about the how financially I couldn't keep paying for the service and then found out through the school I was granted the service. I canceled the subscription back in February and made a new account with my groupmates. Recently I was going through my email and saw I was still getting charged for the subscription even thought it states I have a free plan and I canceled it already. I'm confused what is going on and as a student can’t afford for these charges and hoping I could get a refund on them.

I really would appreciate help on this situation.

👋🏻 Hey @Gabe Anurum, welcome to Figma Forum.

Thanks for providing these details. I'm not able to access account specifics or review refund requests from this public space, since billing involves private account information. As a general policy, payments for Figma subscriptions are non-refundable, but our Product Support team reviews individual situations, so they're the right people for this. I've shared the details from your post with them for context. Your case number is: 2026499 — they'll follow up there directly.

A couple of things that may help in the meantime:

  • The charges may be tied to a different account than the free one you're viewing now. If you paid on your original account and later made a new one with your groupmates, it's worth checking that the original plan shows as canceled — otherwise it can keep renewing in the background.
  • You can confirm your plan status and cancel any active subscription here: Upgrade or downgrade your plan → Downgrade or cancel your plan. If you go to Admin → Settings → Plan, a canceled plan shows as scheduled to downgrade to Starter.

Please keep an eye on your inbox tied to your Figma Forum account for next steps.
