Unexpected Billing Adjustment Amount

I recently increased my AI credits by $20, based on a specific and controlled budget. However, I noticed that an additional billing adjustment amount was charged for my next billing, resulting in a total charge higher than the amount I intended to purchase.

I would appreciate clarification on why this billing adjustment was applied, particularly when my credit purchase and budget were explicitly limited to a specific amount. Unexpected charges beyond the approved budget create unnecessary financial burden and make it difficult for us to manage usage costs effectively.

Kindly review the billing transaction, provide a detailed explanation of the additional charge, and assist in resolving or reversing any amount that was charged beyond the intended $20 credit purchase.

We would also appreciate guidance on how to ensure that future charges remain strictly within the configured budget or credit limit, without any unexpected billing adjustments.

Thank you for your prompt assistance in resolving this matter.

Hey @Swaroop BK, thanks for reaching out!

I can help clarify what that billing adjustment line item usually represents. When you increase your AI credits subscription tier partway through your current billing period, that change takes effect right away, and the cost gets prorated for the days remaining in that period. That prorated amount typically shows up as its own line item alongside your new subscription charge, which is generally why the total ends up higher than the $20 increase you were expecting. That's the most common explanation for this kind of charge, though confirming it for your account would mean looking at your actual invoice.

A couple of things worth knowing:

  1. Upgrades to your AI credits subscription tier take effect immediately and are prorated for the rest of your current billing period.
  2. Credit tiers don't stack, so upgrading moves you to a new tier rather than adding credits on top of your existing one.
  3. If you have admin access, you can see the full breakdown of any invoice, including prorated amounts, from the Admin tab under Billing > Invoices.

Since account and billing details aren't something we can review or confirm here in the public forum for privacy and security reasons, could you get in touch through our Support Hub? Our customer support team can pull up your invoice and walk through exactly what that $22.45 covers.

In the meantime, this Manage AI credits article has more detail on how AI credit subscription changes are prorated and billed, which might help make sense of things before we look at your specific account.
