Hello Figma Support,

I’m reaching out regarding an unexpected overdue invoice on my Figma Professional plan.

I was previously using Figma through an educational account. After graduating, my educational access was deactivated, so I upgraded to the Professional plan because I needed continued access to my Figma files.

I intended to use the Professional plan on a monthly basis for one month at a time. My previous payment was made on July 4, 2026, for the Professional subscription. I did not intend to continue the subscription into another billing period.

However, I can now see an invoice in my Billing > Invoices section with the following details:

  • Previous payment: July 4, 2026
  • New invoice due date: August 1, 2026
  • Invoice amount: $23.60
  • Status: Overdue
  • Current status: My team is locked because of the overdue invoice

I did not renew or set it to automatic renewal for the Professional subscription for August, and I also did not use the Professional plan during this period. I have now cancelled/deactivated the subscription because I do not want it to continue renewing automatically.

I am currently considering purchasing Professional again for one month because I need to use it now. However, I am unsure what will happen if I update my payment details. The Billing page only gives me the option to update my payment details, and I don't want to accidentally be charged for the overdue August invoice and then charged again for another full month starting from today.

Could you please clarify:

  1. Why was the August 1 invoice generated despite my intention to use Professional for only one month?
  2. Is the $23.60 August 1 invoice for the period from August 1 onward?
  3. Since I did not intend to renew and did not use the plan during this period, would it be possible to waive or cancel this invoice?
  4. If I want to purchase Professional for one month starting now, on August 20, 2026, is there a way to start a new monthly billing period from today rather than being charged for the August 1 invoice?

I would appreciate it if you could review my account and let me know the best way to proceed before I make any payment.

Thank you for your help.

Hi @Uttkarsh Singhwal, thanks for reaching out!

I’m Denise from the Community team at Figma. I understand the sense of urgency here, but my team here on the forum isn’t able to assist with Billing issues. That said, it looks like you also reached out to support directly on ticket #2081557. The team replied to you earlier today. Please check your email inbox at your earliest convenience.
