Hi Figma Team,

I'm experiencing an issue while trying to change the email address associated with my Figma account.

Current email: (redacted by the moderator due to PII)
New email: (redacted by the moderator due to PII)

When I request an email change, I successfully receive the verification email at my new email address. However, every time I click the "Verify Email" button, Figma redirects me to a page displaying the following error:

"Sorry, your link has expired or is malformed."

I have already tried the following:

• Requested multiple new verification emails.
• Used only the latest verification email.
• Opened the verification email immediately after receiving it.
• Tried Chrome, Safari, and Incognito mode.
• Copied and pasted the verification link directly into the browser.
• Cleared browser cache and cookies.
• Logged out and logged back into my Figma account.
• Confirmed that the verification emails are being delivered successfully.

Unfortunately, every newly generated verification link results in the same error.

Additional Information:
- New email domain: Google Workspace (redacted by the moderator due to PII)
- Existing Figma account is active and accessible.
- Screenshot of the error has been attached.

Could someone please help investigate this issue or manually verify/update my account email?

I'd appreciate any guidance or assistance.

Thank you!

Hi @Akhil_Designer , Celine from Figma here, thanks for reaching out! It looks like you've already done a thorough job troubleshooting this, and I appreciate you sharing all the steps you've tried.

Since the issue persists and every newly generated verification link returns the same "Sorry, your link has expired or is malformed." error, I've gone ahead and created a support ticket on your behalf so our team can investigate this further. Please keep an eye on your inbox, and reply to the support email when you receive it. Our team will take it from there. For reference, your case number is 1988456, sent to your email address: axxxs@clxxxt.co, thanks!

Update: The support team replied to you. Sharing also here the solution as it could also help the community. To resolve this, please try the following:

  1. Sign in to the Figma account associated with your new email address.
  2. If you're unable to sign in, use the Forgot password option to regain access.
  3. Once you've signed in, delete that Figma account by going to Settings > Account > Delete account.
  4. After deleting the account, please wait 24 hours for the email address to be fully released from our system.
  5. After the 24-hour period, sign in to your original Figma account (the one whose email you'd like to update) and try changing the email address again.

One important note: After deleting the account, please don't sign in to Figma using the new email address, as doing so may create a new Figma account associated with that email address again, preventing you from updating the email on your original account.

If you are still running into issues, please continue the conversation directly your case. I’ll go ahead and closed the topic here, thank you!
