I am using the education upgrade for Figma and some members of my team are able unable to access the files we are working on. Everything online about adding/editing seats is involves the admin page, but the ‘seats’ column in the admin members page is not there. My teammates need access to our project. Do you know of any way to fix this?

Hi @AWC Tech

It sounds like you’re trying to give someone edit access, but they’re seeing “An admin needs to update this seat” message.

I took a look at our backend, and it appears you are an Admin of a student team.

To help us understand exactly what you are seeing, could you double-check a couple of things?

  • Go to Admin in the left sidebar.
  • Select the People tab.

Just to clarify—are you saying the person in question doesn't appear in that list at all?

You can find more details on how this usually works here:  Manage seats in Figma

If that’s the case, I’ll send you a DM shortly to gather some details so I can get you connected with our support team for a deeper look.

If I’ve missed anything, please feel free to share more details here.

Thanks,

I am unable to edit seats for my team at all. when I go to the admin page, there is no way for me to manage seats. This is what the people category for my team looks like. Everything I see online says that I should see a section that says “seat type”.

Hey @AWC Tech, Tom here stepping in for @Junko3 today to help keep things moving forward on this. Thanks for the update, and sorry to hear this is still causing trouble for your team.

I'm not able to access account-specific details from Figma Forum, but I want to make sure this gets the attention it needs. I removed the screenshot from your post to protect your account privacy, and I've used the details you shared to open a ticket on your behalf with our Product Support team. Your case number is: 1807819, and they'll follow up at the email tied to your Figma account.

In the meantime, if anything changes or improves on your end, please let us know here. Otherwise, keep an eye on your inbox for updates from the team.
