Typing descriptions triggers tools bug?

Hello forum,

I am currently working on typing descriptions for components and component variants for a large design system file with more than a thousand components. These descriptions are going in the component configuration modal window. This window is accessed by clicking the component configuration button on Figma's right side panel.

I have noticed that canvas tools are getting triggered while typing descriptions inside the text input field. Has anyone else experienced this kind of behavior? For example, words with the letter t can trigger the text tool and therefore Figma jumps out of the description input field. Words with the letter o trigger the ellipse tool. Words with the letter c trigger the comment tool. H the hand tool, etc.

This happens inconsistently. Is this a bug? Is there a way to turn off single letter hotkeys for the canvas creation tools?

Thank you for the help.

Hi @Aguiar_Leonardo_extern, thanks for reaching out!

I definitely understand how frustrating this could be. I just tried to edit component descriptions, but the single letter keyboard shortcuts don’t seem to be triggering for me.

Are you still having this issue? If so, is it happening in all of your files or one file in particular? What OS are you using, and are you using Figma in the desktop app, browser, or both?

With a few more details, I can try to connect you with our technical quality team to investigate further.

Hi @djv , thank you for reaching out. The issue is still happening. I have tried reproducing it in another file but I was not able to make it trigger.

I am using macOS and the Figma app. The issue only seems to occur on a file that is being frequently worked on and auto saved. The issue happens when ever the cloud and up arrow icon shows up in the top right of Figma's left side panel.

Thank you for your help and time.

Thanks for the additional context, @Aguiar_Leonardo_extern

Would you be able to share the file that it is occurring in with our technical quality team here? https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

We’d love to take a closer look at what may be causing the issue and taking a look on the backend.
