I lost two extremely important Files after my last request here which was about the edu-status being available for my Gmail (this is my business related account) instead my student account I requested the edu status to be removed from my Gmail and added to my educational Uni mail.

The files are missing on my Gmail account. One was related to my book keeping as freelancer and the other was the design of my new website. I checked deleted but they’re not there. Also I would never ever delete these files myself.

Looking forward to help here since I am quite lost doing business without these Files. Thank you. I also remember the filenames :)

Hi @pino.bahro

I understand that you’ve lost access to two important files on one of your accounts.

Even if you didn’t delete the files yourself, there are a few possible scenarios that could prevent you from accessing them:

  • Someone with “can edit” access to the parent project may have moved the files to Trash.

  • The team where the files were stored may have been deleted by its owner. When a team is deleted, all files and projects inside it are removed as well.

Let’s walk through a few things that may help.

To cover the basics, please double-check the “Trash” section for every team you have access to. (Each team has its own Trash.)

You can switch between teams in the File Browser by clicking the arrow next to the team name in the left sidebar, then checking the “Trash” section there.

When searching in Trash, we recommend selecting “Created by anyone” and “All files.”

More details here: Delete and restore files

Also, do you remember which team those files were in? and do you still have access to that team? If not, you might need to contact the team owner.

If you still can’t locate your files after checking the above, could you please send me the following via PM? (Click the profile icon on this message → mail icon)

  • The Figma account email associated with the files

  • URLs of those files

You might be able to find the URLs in:

  • Your browser history

  • Any past conversations where you shared the files

  • File → Recently Closed (Desktop app)

Once I receive that information, I’ll take the next steps and help however I can.

Thanks,
