The number of AI credits is not displayed when the limit has not been used and there are still credits remaining

I'm on the Starter plan, and I had the AI credits feature. It gave me 500 credits, the usual 150 per day.

I tried to use this feature today, but Figma tells me to buy a subscription, even though I'm sure I still have some AI credits left. In the Figma menu, the number of AI credits in the upper left corner suddenly disappeared.

I don't see the number or any information about them. I can't see any information about my plan or my credits.

How can I fix this issue? I would be very grateful for any help or advice.

Please don't tell me that the Starter plan doesn't have AI features, as I had them and used them without a subscription.

Hey @Alina OS, thanks so much for your patience while the team investigated this.

Our engineering team has identified and fixed an issue that was causing your account to lose access to Figma AI tools. The functionality has now been restored on your account, and you should be able to use the AI features again as expected.

We’re sorry for the disruption here, and we really appreciate your patience and understanding while this was being worked through.

When you have a moment, could you give it another try and let us know if everything is working properly on your end?

Thanks!

Hi @Alina OS, Celyn from Figma Community Support here.

Thanks for reaching out and for sharing the details. I understand that you previously had access to AI credits on your Starter plan, but are now no longer seeing access to those features.

There isn’t anything you need to do on your end, as the team is already aware of this behavior and is actively investigating it.

In the meantime, I’ve gone ahead and created a support ticket for you so the team can keep you updated directly there - your ticket number is #1909846.

Please keep an eye on your inbox for further updates from the team soon, and thanks again for your patience while this is being looked into 🙏

having the same issue and this is the 2nd month in a row.  Are you going to issue credits when you get this fixed?

This usually happens when there’s a mismatch between the UI state and the backend entitlement for AI credits, not necessarily that your plan changed.

A few things that commonly cause exactly what you’re describing:

UI rollout / A-B testing change: Figma sometimes removes or relocates the AI credits indicator during interface updates, so the counter disappears even though the backend still tracks usage.
Account context switch: If you’re logged into multiple workspaces (or recently switched org/team), AI credits can be tied to a different workspace than the one currently active.
Temporary entitlement sync issue: The “buy subscription” prompt can appear when the client fails to fetch your remaining credits, even if you still have them.
Cache/session glitch: The AI feature panel and credit display are surprisingly sensitive to stale session data.

What usually helps:

Log out and log back in (forces entitlement refresh)
Try incognito / another browser
Check if you’re in the correct workspace/org in the top-left switcher
Clear site data for Figma if the UI stays broken

One important detail: even when Starter users do have AI credits in some rollout phases, Figma tends to gate features dynamically, so the UI can change without the plan itself changing — which makes it look like the credits “disappeared” when it’s actually just not being displayed correctly.
